Manuscript Submission
Conference Proceedings:
The proceedings of the 28th International Conference on the Physics of Semiconductors will appear as a CD ROM. In addition, plenary and invited papers will be published in a special section of Journal of Applied Physics. All papers will be reviewed. All contributed articles will be accessible for the conference participants without charge via the web for 12 months. The invited and plenary presentations also can be downloaded via the JAP website.
The JAP papers as well as the papers published in the conference proceedings volume will be archived on the AIP website and are available indefinitely, just as all AIP journal and proceedings articles are. Upon publication online, each paper will receive the permanent DOI identifier and will remain citable.
Many abstracting services and databases link to the AIP online content. The proceedings papers are indexed in SPIN (http://scitation.aip.org/spinweb/), Inspec (http://www.iee.org/Publish/INSPEC/), Web of Science Proceedings
(http://www.isinet.com/products/citation/proceedings/), and are included in
CrossRef (http://www.crossref.org/). All abstracts are also indexed by Google.
Manuscript Submission
a) Contributed Papers (posters and orals are treated the same way)
Contributed Papers are to be submitted on-line in final layout/style (so-called author-prepared mode). Contributed papers must not exceed 2 printed pages in length. The on-line submission site for contributed papers is http://icps.peerx-press.org/cgi-bin/main.plex which contains detailed step-by-step instructions. Templates for the final layout (8.5 x 11 inch, double-column format) are also available at http://proceedings.aip.org/proceedings/8x11d.jsp. The restriction of the data volume announced earlier is not necessary anymore, as AIP will publish a printed version which contains high resolution figures. For the CD-ROM the figures will be down-sampled by AIP. The deadline for uploading the manuscripts is July 10.
Copywright Transfer Form (contributed papers)
(for inv./plen. papers it is handled by JAP)
In addition to uploading the paper, the author must submit a properly completed and signed Transfer of Copyright form. Indicate your manuscript number on the top right-hand corner of the form and mail or E-mail the completed form to:
Alexandra Stangl
Abteilung fuer Halbleiterphysik
Johannes Kepler Universitaet
A-4040 Linz
AUSTRIA
e-mail: ICPS28.proceedings@jku.at
b) Invited and Plenary Papers
Invited and Plenary Papers will be handled and refereed and published by Journal of Applied Physics. The page limits are 5 printed pages for invited and 7 for plenary papers according to the Journal of Applied Physics standards. The on-line submission system is accessible at http://jap.peerx-press.org/cgi-bin/main.plex.
Both submission sites contain a concise help function. If you still encounter problems with on-line submission, or in the case of general questions regarding the proceedings you may contact the editorial staff of the ICPS proceedings at ICPS28.proceedings@jku.at
The deadline for the submission of the invited/plenary manuscripts is July 23.
Permissions to reprint material that is not the author's own work
The Proceedings publisher must of necessity assume that material submitted for publication is properly available for dissemination to the public. It is the responsibility of the author, not the Conference or the Proceeedings publisher, to determine whether disclosure of the material requires prior consent of other parties, and, if so, to obtain it.
To use previously published material from a book or journal, you must obtain written permission from the owner of the rights to the material (the original publisher and/or author). It is your responsibility to obtain permission to use copyrighted material. The executed permissions need to be submitted before a paper can be published.
Write for permission as early as possible before your manuscript deadline. Publishers may be slow in responding to requests for permission and it is possible that permission will be denied, or that you will be asked to also obtain the author's permission (in cases where the author controls sole rights, or joint rights with the publisher). In any case, it is in your own best interest to also ask the author of the original publication. If the author is difficult to locate, keep good records of your attempt.
Most publishers offer submission of permission requests online or via email, which may be the fastest and most convenient way of receiving a reply.
When the signed permission is returned to you, please insert any necessary credit lines in your figure or table legends."
